The use of Laptops have now become spread far and wide. Laptops, being portable and free from wires are some of the most vital advantages that they have over the normal computers. A fully charged laptop can work for minimum of 2 hours. While working on laptops we thus might experience problems in charging the battery when there is no charging point around . Below, are some methods stated that can help people to make optimum use of your laptop batteries so that work doesn’t stop.
1) When you are not using the internet or the Bluetooth connection, it is advisable to switch them off. This will help to save battery which is otherwise utilized to a great extent by these wireless modules. One can switch of the internet connection, by switching off the wireless button on your laptops.
2) One can also save on battery by correctly regulating the brightness of the laptop screen. One should put the brightness level to the point where they they can just see clearly without any intreuption to one’s work. This not only helps to save on battery but keep your eyes safe from excess bright light. The controls from where one can regulate the brightness can be found on the function keys i.e. the F1-F10 keys.
3) Make sure that you have selected the suitable power scheme in your operating system. Users of Vista and Windows 7 can do so by adjusting their power options between High performance, balanced performance and power saver corresponding to what purpose you are going to be using the laptop. If one is not going to be executing too many jobs at a time, the it is advisable to keep it on a power saver mode, and otherwise balanced mode is a suitable option. Windows XP does not have this option of high-level power optimization, but a Windows XP user can go to properties, in which there are power options through which it can select the option of “max battery” to optimize its battery life.
4) When one is not near the laptop, it is advisable for them to shut the screen lid. By doing this the laptop will be on “sleep mode” in Vista and Windows 7 or similarly the “Stand-by mode” in Windows XP. When the laptop is on the sleep or stand-by mode, it makes least utilization of battery.
5) Once your work is done, disconnect any portable devices that you have connected to your laptop, like wireless modems or pen drives. This will help in less consumption of the battery.
6) As time passes by, batteries go weaker, and thus laptops which formerly could run for 3 or 4hours, with time its not able to run even for two hours. This doesn’t indicate that one needs to replace their laptop, but that might just indicate that one needs to change the battery.
Thus by these steps, one can save up a lot of battery power and thus in a way also increase their battery life..
