“What is really important … is to get it right. Flash and Flash video are very specific hardware, CPU and memory,” said Lessard.

The company wants to ensure that, when introducing a flash through your OS in smartphones, it is “doing well,” said Lessard.

“We do not provide the experience that users are really excited to get – maybe buy new equipment just because it supports Flash – and then find it does not work as hoped,” he said.

Flash importance is hard to ignore the web-video and software-platform perspective, and RIM continues to invest in the platform development, Lessard said.

“We see a growing trend not only Web content, but also stand-alone applications, not only for consumers but also businesses, built in Flash, Adobe AIR and Adobe’s other technologies,” said Lessard.

RIM and Adobe originally announced they are working together to make Flash for the BlackBerry device in October last year.

With BlackBerry OS 6, RIM joins the company as Apple and Google, which back HTML5 standard for distributing video and multimedia content. While Google’s Android OS supports Flash, Adobe has engaged in a public spat with Apple, which does not play Flash content on iPhone and IPAD devices. Apple CEO Steve Jobs has publicly derided flash that buggy, slow and power-hungry.

One Great Way to Get More Efficient Solar Power for Batteries
